Ben is a hard-core sensor geek. Before co-founding StretchSense he was an award winning academic. He received the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Best Doctoral Thesis in 2010 and a Rutherford Foundation PostDoctoral Fellow. Since then he has won the 2015 New Zealand Hi-Tech Young Achiever Award and the 2013 Prime Minister’s MacDiarmid Emerging Scientist Prize. Ben has a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and once built an artificial muscle computer.
Chief Scientist, Board Member
Iain is an Associate Professor and head of the University of Auckland’s Biomimetics Lab. His lab is researching the development of soft electronics for the control of artificial muscles. Iain likes being underwater and wants to, one day, swim like a fish. To advance this goal his lab is building ‘Taniwha”, New Zealand’s (and the Southern Hemisphere’s) first human-propelled racing submarine.
Sarah loves problem solving. An early employee, Sarah has worked in a number of roles in the company and is currently balancing the many elements of R&D Management. A keen logical thinker, Sarah enjoys the time puzzle of running multiple projects at a time. Sarah enjoys umpiring Netball and is a trained biologist.
Global Sales Manager, Board Observer
Heath drives Global Sales and commercial partnerships for StretchSense and sits on the Board as an Observer having invested in the company in 2014. He has driven Business Development for technology startup businesses in the US, Central Europe, Japan and New Zealand over the past 12 years.
HR and Admin Manager
Prior to joining StretchSense, Naya had over 10 years of experience in the field of Human Resources, with more than 6 of those years managing HR & Administration teams for international companies.
Naya is an advocate of continuous learning. She is the Vice President for Membership of the DIATRIBE (Department of Internal Affairs) Toastmasters club, and recently joined the prestigious Auckland Branch HRINZ Committee.

Antoni is interested in making ideas link to actual outcomes. As the first employee at StretchSense, he has been involved in multiple roles in the company. If you ask him about the sum of his experiences and methods now, he’ll tell you that partnerships, business processes and designing for consumer acceptance are the important bits in creating frontier tech that lasts. The technical ‘how’ is relatively easy.

Board DirectorChris is an experienced Angel Investor and Director with a background in Finance and Consulting. Before moving to New Zealand, he spent a significant amount of time in Japan and the UK and enjoys working with disruptive technologies and processes for global markets. Some recent projects include Mobile Mentor, which grew into a 250+ staff company in 5 countries and Kayasand Holdings, which he chairs, and which distributes Japanese invented quarrying technology internationally. Apart from his family, his main passions are the ocean and sky, which he enjoys by owning and operating Auckland Seaplanes.
Ralf is a serial entrepreneur and professional director. He was the first investor in StretchSense and has mentored the company from the very beginning.
He is passionate about new technology and strongly believes that good science and technology – not exclusively – can make the world a better place for all.
Ralf is also the founder and chairman of International Earth Sciences Ltd. and gives his time volunteering to help young entrepreneurs and start-up companies and in church.
